This Thankful Wooden DIY sign can be painted and decorated. Hang it on the wall or once painted and decorated, glue it onto a wooden board or canvas. Paint the canvas or wood with chalk paint or acrylic paint to prime it, then decide in what position you want to glue the sign onto the wood board or canvas if that’s what you decide to do. Decorate the wood board or canvas with self-adhesive or peel and stick wallpaper or stickers. You can also paint and glue wooden embellishments such as flowers or whatever else you have in your stash to decorate the space surrounding the sign.

DIY Decoration Ideas:

Painting & Distressing the wooden sign:

• The word “thankful”:.
  • can be painted with chalk paint for a rustic, vintage effect; or
  • you could use distressed or dry-brushed accents using grey or white for a weathered look; or
  • use gold or silver metallic paint pens to outline or highlight the letters

The possibilities are endless. Use your creativity.

Lettering Enhancements:

• Outline the letters with a white or metallic silver marker for contrast. Otherwise use a paint pen to outline the sign.
• Add a subtle shadow effect with a grey or gold paint pen.

Don’t forget to seal the completed artwork with Mod Podge or another suitable sealant to protect it. When using permanent markers to outline the letters, let them dry completely before sealing.
