Purple Butterfly Earrings

These Purple Butterfly Earrings by Wanda Shum are one of a kind. They are hand crafted by her in British Columbia, Canada and have the appearance of exquisitely shaped and vividly painted butterfly wings. Wanda Shum is a talented Canadian Artist. The butterfly earrings are fashioned out of Polymer Clay, a kind of clay out of which one models various pieces of artwork; it is then hardened in an oven like PVC. The artist then forms the clay into a variety of unbelievably beautiful designs and shapes, in brilliant colours. The colours of this pair of earrings are vivid pink, white, purple, red, black, yellow and orange; it is professionally shaped and modeled.

Each pair of earrings is hand crafted; thus, none of the earrings are identical in colour.

Wanda Shum works with polymer clay and uses a technique called Millefiori, “A Thousand Flowers”. Strips of different shapes and colours of polymer clay are moulded into canes. The canes are cut revealing an array of colours and patterns and they are then carefully applied and sculpted into wonderful earrings and various other unique, one of a kind “works of art”.
